Ohrangutang Studio is designed around on-device editing and does not require an Ohrangutang Studio account. Your photos and videos are never shared with advertising partners. App versions that include Meta's Facebook SDK use it solely for the advertising measurement described below; access to Apple's advertising identifier occurs only if you allow tracking through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. Apple, Google, your device, and services you choose may process information under their own policies.
Scope
This policy applies to Ohrangutang Studio mobile applications, ohrangutangstudio.com, customer support, and related digital services operated by Digital Primates LLC. It does not govern third-party websites, app stores, cloud photo libraries, or services that we do not control.
Privacy by design
Photo and video editing, including supported machine learning features, is designed to run on your device. Your selected media, projects, and saved creative settings remain under your control unless you deliberately export, share, back up, or send them to another service.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use photos or videos from the app to train our models, and we never share your media with advertising partners. App versions that include Meta measurement share only the limited app-activity information described below, which some laws treat as “sharing” for targeted advertising; you can opt out at any time through the controls in Privacy Choices.
Information we process
Media and creative projects
The app processes the photos and videos you select, adjustment settings, projects, Flavors, Stamps, and export choices on your device. Access to your photo library and camera is controlled through operating-system permissions. Apple Photos or another library provider may retrieve a selected item from its cloud service before the app can edit it.
Purchases and entitlements
Apple App Store and, when available, Google Play process payments, taxes, billing details, and purchase history. The app receives information needed to confirm a trial, subscription, or purchase entitlement. We do not receive or store your full payment-card number.
First-party product analytics and diagnostics
The app sends limited product-use and diagnostic information to Ohrangutang Studio infrastructure that we control. This may include a randomly generated installation identifier, session events, onboarding progress, feature and Flavor interactions, export outcomes, purchase-flow outcomes, app version and build, operating-system version, device family or model, locale, event timing, and Apple MetricKit performance or crash diagnostics. We use this information to understand reliability, conversion, and feature usefulness and to improve the product.
This first-party telemetry does not include your name, email address, Apple advertising identifier, photos, videos, project files, captions, creative settings, or exported media. It is not shared with Meta or another advertising partner. If you contact support, you may separately choose to send screenshots, sample media, or other diagnostic details.
Website activity
Our hosting and security providers may create standard server logs containing an IP address, browser and device type, requested URL, referring page, and date and time. We also record bounded first-party events such as the public page path, campaign labels, and the placement of an App Store link that was selected; these records do not contain app media or editing activity. If you accept marketing measurement, the public website also uses Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API to measure visits, App Store link selections, and launch-news registrations. These tools may process the page URL and campaign parameters, browser and network information, Meta browser identifiers, and a one-way hash of the email submitted with the launch-news form. See our Cookie Policy and Privacy Choices.
Communications
We process your email address and anything you voluntarily include when you contact support, send a privacy request, report infringement, or discuss a business relationship.
Launch news list
If you ask for Desktop or Android launch news, we process your email address, first name, platform preference, language, campaign source, consent version and time, confirmation status, and email-delivery status. We use double confirmation so an address is not added to the active list until its owner confirms the request.
How we use information
- Provide editing, export, purchase restoration, and customer-support functionality.
- Secure, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the app and website.
- Answer communications and fulfill privacy or legal requests.
- Send the product launch news you requested and maintain your subscription preference.
- Detect fraud, misuse, security incidents, and violations of our terms.
- Comply with law, enforce agreements, and protect users, the public, and our rights.
If we later add accounts, cloud media processing, or additional advertising activities, we will update this policy and provide consent or opt-out controls before the new processing begins where law requires them.
Advertising measurement
App versions that include the Facebook SDK from Meta Platforms, Inc. use it only to measure and improve Ohrangutang Studio advertising. Meta may receive a limited set of conversion events, such as app activation or open, onboarding completion, Pro paywall view, checkout initiation, trial start, subscription, or purchase, together with the technical information the SDK uses for attribution. Detailed product analytics, including individual onboarding steps, Flavor use, editor actions, exports, diagnostics, and crashes, remain in our first-party system and are not sent to Meta. Your photos, videos, projects, and creative settings are never shared with Meta.
On iOS, access to Apple's advertising identifier for cross-app measurement happens only if you allow tracking through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, Meta and Apple may still provide more limited or aggregated attribution under their applicable platform rules. You can change your choice at any time in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security, then Tracking. Meta processes this information under its own privacy policy.
On the public website, Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API run only after you accept marketing measurement. The same event identifier is used for browser and server copies so Meta can deduplicate them. These website tools do not receive your app projects, photos, videos, editing activity, diagnostics, or crashes.
Legal bases
Where the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or similar law applies, we rely on the legal basis appropriate to each activity: performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the services, your consent, and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier lawful processing.
How information is shared
We may disclose limited information to:
- Apple, Google, hosting, email, security, and professional service providers acting for us.
- Meta Platforms, Inc., which receives the app events described under Advertising measurement.
- Authorities or other parties when reasonably necessary to comply with law or protect rights and safety.
- A buyer, investor, or successor in connection with a merger, financing, restructuring, or sale, subject to appropriate safeguards.
- Anyone you direct us to share with or when you use an operating-system share action.
Service providers may process information only for agreed services and under contractual or legal safeguards. We do not disclose your app media to marketers.
The launch news list is stored in a private PostgreSQL database on our Amazon Web Services infrastructure. Resend processes confirmed contact and email-delivery information to send confirmation and launch messages. Cloudflare Turnstile processes limited request and device signals to prevent automated abuse of the form. These providers act under their own security and privacy commitments and receive only the information needed for their role.
Retention
On-device projects and settings remain until you delete them, remove the app, or erase the device, subject to device backups you control. Support communications are kept only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, maintain business records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with law. Security logs are retained for a limited period appropriate to their purpose. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed, unless law requires longer retention.
Unconfirmed launch-list requests expire after 24 hours and stale pending records are removed after a limited cleanup period. Confirmed records remain until you unsubscribe, ask us to delete them, or the launch-news purpose ends. We may retain a minimal suppression or consent record when reasonably necessary to honor an unsubscribe request, demonstrate compliance, prevent abuse, or meet a legal obligation.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may ask to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a portable copy of personal information. You may also withdraw consent and complain to your local data-protection authority. Rights can be subject to identity verification and lawful exceptions.
Most app data is controlled directly on your device. You can change photo and camera access in system settings, delete projects inside the app, or remove the app and its local data. Visit Privacy Choices for request instructions.
Every launch-news welcome message includes an unsubscribe link. You can also contact us to unsubscribe, correct a preference, or request deletion of the list record.
United States privacy rights
Residents of certain United States jurisdictions may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, and to opt out of its sale, sharing for targeted advertising, or certain profiling. We do not sell personal information. Sharing app events with Meta for advertising measurement may qualify as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising in some jurisdictions; you can opt out through the device controls described in Privacy Choices. We do not discriminate for exercising a privacy right.
An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted. We may ask for proof of authority and proportionate information to verify the request. You may appeal a denied request by replying to our decision with the subject “Privacy Appeal.”
International transfers
We operate from the United States. If information is transferred from another country, we use legally recognized safeguards where required, such as contractual protections, and apply this policy regardless of processing location.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards suited to the information and service. No storage or transmission method is guaranteed secure. You are responsible for securing your device, account credentials for third-party platforms, backups, and exported files.
Children
The services are not directed to children under 13, or the higher minimum age required where they live. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child below that age. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted information should contact us so we can investigate and delete it when required.
Changes
We may update this policy as the services, technology, or law changes. We will post the revised effective date and provide additional notice when a material change requires it. Earlier versions may be requested by email.
